Current & recent

2015: Co-Curator of Urban Organisms, a collaborative project examining and creatively exploreing food sustainability in cities. Working across a range of approaches the project will provide a space for conversation and ideas. Connecting up the environmental, socio-economic and political dimensions of urban food production and consumption, the NewBridge Project Space will act as a hub for this activity including film screenings, participatory workshops, walks and talks // 2014-15: Member of The Newbridge Project Programming Committee // 2014: Communications & Partnerships / Programme Development for a-n The Artists Information Company: I co-develop the organisations Professional Development for artists, arts organisers and students, and also assist with the Paying Artists campaign. 2013: Project and Development Manager, Northern Film and Media: I develop a range of creative projects, expanding the organisation’s remit to include artist’s moving image projects and talent development.


2013 – 2014: Producer / Project Manager for Connect/Exchange, a national UK exchange initiative for artists with a moving image, digital or screen-based practice. This project is a partnership with The NewBridge Project, A3 Project Space and Metal developed through current role of Project & Development Manager at Northern Film & Media.

2011 – 2012: Artist / Producer for Linear Shift HD video and sound installation investigating how the faded industrial heritage of Tyneside impacts on contemporary understanding of the area today. Collaboration with  artist /film-maker Taryn Edmonds; Artist / Researcher for Seeing the City Anew: Refugee images of Manchester Pilot research project with University of Chester, using auto-photography to produce a visual record of refugee narratives and geographies of Manchester.

2008:  The Reading Room: Conversations of an Artistic Nature, Adventures in the Valley. A series of evening events in which leading artists discussed areas of contemporary practice with curators, writers and the audience. Guest speakers included Glenn Adamson, Catherine Bertola, Siân Bowen, Susan Collis, Kate Davis, Keith Harrison, Kelly McCallum, David Musgrave, Richard Talbot and Emma Shaw, who led discussions on aspects of visual art in three unique sessions entitled Drawing, Object and Space; 2007: Memories, Moments and Other Curiosities, Saltburn Artists’ Projects, Simon Le Ruez, Kelly McCallum, Nicola Dale, Claire Douglass and Liz Frolich. Sculpture and wall-based work suggestive of personal experience, disintegration and domestic spaces; Kerry Harker: Work and Play, Saltburn Artists’ Projects.Ceramic installation investigating craft and fine art within cultural production, with accompanying exhibition catalogue including an essay by Clare Twomey; Alluring Order, Saltburn Artists’ Projects, Katie Lewis, Bethan Maddocks, Hannah Marsden and Janey Xuereb. Employment & freelance projects

2011 2012: Website producer for Flo-Culture: I co-ordinated the re- launch of the Flo-Culture website  2011: Temenos publication Project Manager – mima, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art: I was responsible for ensuring the completion of the publication to celebrate the installation of Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond’s Temenos; 2010 – 2011: Online Jobs and Opps editor – a-n, the Artists Information Company: I edited the home page of the jobs and opportunities section of the a-n website, writing articles and links to content appropriate for artists and arts organisers; 2008: Co-coordinator of Adventures in the Valley programme, commissioned by MAP, the Artists’ Network for the Tees Valley and Middlesbrough Council: Co-complied  a programme of off-site events which took place across the Tees Valley, taking sole responsibility for one area, The Reading Room; 2007 – 2008: Professional Development through Networking Participant Contact Point for a-n, the Artists’ Information Company: Worked with artists running over 20 different projects were on schedule and on budget and that all funding requirements were met. Also wrote three articles (published in a-n magazine and on-line) to promote the project and the artists who benefited from it; 2005 – 2007: Development Manager of Saltburn Artists’ Projects: Organised gallery programme, curated the gallery exhibitions and events, managed the studio complex including fundraising, gallery procedures, marketing, and branding commissioning.

Commissions & projects

2009: Seven Swans, Enchanted Parks–  outdoor sculpture and light installation for the annual after-dark event, part of the NewcastleGateshead Winter Festival; The Beautiful Journey, Wildworks – researched stories and memories from Wallsend community members to produce shrines and ‘memory-boxes’ to the tales collected, which then formed part of the set for a site-specific outdoor theatre production.
